I tried to plug in my laptop charger into a loose wall outlet yesterday. Now I'm really worried that something might break if I do this wrong.

It might happen that your power plug gets broken and could burn out what you're connected to, but if it's only a tiny bit loose because the wall socket protector is missing or not snug, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd just get that cover fixed up soon with an image showing the outlet.

It seems like the connection point got loose.

i would imagine that this socket would only be loose due to it's rubber molding or it's adhesive becoming detached on the inside. while i personally probably wouldn't worry much, it still could be a danger with a risk of shorting and/or fire. i would contact the manufacturer if still under warranty and have it repaired or replaced.

Yeah, it won't hold up well if you bump it around a bit.
