Hello
I reside in India and currently use a 40mbps fiber connection. My ping to Singapore servers ranges between 95ms and 98ms in Apex Legends. I haven’t noticed any noticeable lag, but I’m curious if this ping is acceptable or if there’s something I can do to improve it. I also wonder if having a low ping gives an advantage over opponents with higher latency. I’ve heard that ping values under 100ms often don’t matter much. Could someone clarify this for me?

Ping refers to the duration it takes for a packet to travel from you to the server. If it's less than 100ms, it's acceptable. The best is under 50ms. What matters most is the gap between you and others. If it's 50ms or less, you won't even notice. But if the difference is closer to 70-100ms, it becomes noticeable. For example, a 95ms ping compared to someone with 40-60ms is a significant edge. In games like Quake and CSGO, this advantage is especially clear in aim-centered shooters. In more objective-based games, good reflexes can match up with just precise aiming.

In my area, there are almost no servers nearby. Seattle is around 2300 km away by air. When I play games, I usually end up in West Coast servers. My average speed is 100-120 m/s. Australia/SEA is similar for me. The EU is closer to 200. People often complain a lot about ping. You'll see you're detected before you actually appear, but you gradually get used to it and can adapt.

Under 50ms is ideal. My preferred bf4 server isn’t local and I usually experience around 120ms, which shows a big difference compared to a local 40ms server. I tend to get more hits and misses on the higher ping server. I wouldn’t be able to play apex if the ping was too high, like over 100ms.

Depend on games but for Apex <100ms is acceptable but not optimal.
