Hi. I’ve been experiencing intermittent lag and frame drops about six months ago while using the internet, YouTube, or playing games. I attempted everything from disassembling my PC to cleaning components and reinstalling Windows. Later, a forum suggested it might be an FTPM problem, but most online content doesn’t confirm that. The issue seems more frequent when I’m not playing games—especially during gameplay, it starts when I return from the pause menu or any other menu and requires a restart to resolve. For certain titles like Betheda’s Skyrim and Fallout 4, pressing the alt key helps. My system specs are: Ryzen 5 1600, ROG Strix GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM, 3000 Hz, 500GB SSD, NVMe SATA SSD, Corsair RMX 650, 144Hz AOC, 24-inch monitor, Windows 10. I’m sharing a video from Arkham Knight to illustrate. Anyone else had similar experiences? Could this be a toggleable setting? Also, the lag appears in games and normal tasks alike. Check your task manager or tools like MSI afterburner for CPU, temperature, GPU usage and their temps. This helps identify which part is overloaded, spot thermal issues such as poor heat contact, and see if performance was better before. Also, compare game performance at the same settings to understand what’s causing the problem.
We don’t have visibility on the CPU temperature, yet so far everything appears normal.
I'm setting up Afterburner and expect to monitor temperatures soon. Edit: I've installed Afterburner. Temperatures look typical, though I noticed a surge in GPU usage during system slowdowns. Check the usage details in the bottom-right corner of the display.
