Hello, your issue involves enabling wake-on-wan (WOL) over the internet using IPv6. The DHCP setup and firewall configuration seem correct, but you're only seeing the expected behavior on your local network (LAN). The WolOn app reports an error when trying to connect on WAN, which suggests a compatibility or configuration problem between your device and the WAN interface. You might want to verify that your router supports IPv6 WOL and ensure the correct settings are applied for both LAN and WAN connections.

I should have pointed it out earlier: the app just reports an error, no further details. Did I overlook a parameter or is the WOW feature for IPv6 not feasible?

I don't rely on IPv4. Are you exclusively using IPv6? Do you connect through a SFR network?

Additionally tested using the WakeOnLan app (supports WoW) which produced identical results: functions flawlessly on LAN but reports an error when attempting a connection over the Internet. I also tried with both my device's and the router's IPv6 addresses, even though those settings shouldn't be compatible.

No, I haven't configured the port forwarding yet.

No port forwarding for IPv6 is available; it's already part of the IP address, so no NAT required!

Ah, so that does appear to be the case. Interesting. Will have to experiment later. Have you successfully ran other services besides WoL over WAN before? SSH? A game server? Via IPv6 of course. I'd like to narrow down if it's an application specific issue or a global issue (router/ISP).

IPv6 shifts firewall duties from the router to the client device. This means you now use Windows Firewall instead of basic router port forwarding controls. It could be useful to explore Linux and UFW for better insight. I’m curious—have you tried IPv4 before? Does the WoL app indicate it supports WAN?
