I’m trying to install security cameras around our home. They’re all wired POE IP cameras, connected through a dedicated network on my PfSense device at 10.10.60.1, which routes them via a PoE switch. Everything works fine on the main network—pinging from 192.168.2.1 is smooth. But sometimes the connection drops every few seconds. I can reach the cameras on the 60 network without issues. Could there be a reason for the intermittent loss? I’m using Ispy for testing and it’s free, but no NVR is involved. The footage gets saved to my NAS on the main network. Any insights?

I've worked with IP cameras on the same network before; they perform better when paired with a dedicated NVR. It's also important to check if your pfSense device can handle the load. Routing between subnets feels similar to connecting to the internet and local area network, which demands significant processing power.

I’m running 1 to 3% CPU usage, which seems fine. Overall utilization remains low. I connected my laptop directly to the network and the issue persisted. After reinstalling, it appears to work now... Wish me luck.
