Investigating opportunities in the NAS sector
Hello everyone, I'm using an ASROCK Q270 Pro BTC+ mainboard with a flashed SAS Raid controller. So far everything is functioning perfectly on TrueNAS. I'm planning to upgrade the NIC to a 2.5 Gbit PCIe card via the provided link, but it seems the board isn't detecting the new device. Could you help identify the possible issue—maybe related to BIOS settings or something else? Thanks, Edited Feb 10, 2023 by dr3s3l
I attempted to adjust the slot speed to PCIe 2.0/3.0/1.0, but it didn’t function properly. Also tried using the nic in my main PC (Asrock B450 Pro4 Mainboard and Windows 11), which worked without issues. I also observed that it appears red during boot-up.
During testing, I discovered that placing the nic in a pcie mining riser and connecting it to the board works—PCIe slot is detected and an act/1G LED blinks on the nic. However, the operating system fails to recognize the new nic, suggesting I might need to upgrade or modify the mainboards.
