Investigate crash issues where no BSOD appears and the system fails to boot after failure.
System: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master – unclear about BIOS version, possibly F30 or F32. AMD Ryzen 5800X paired with Corsair H100iRGB Platinum GSkill TridentZ Neo; running 32GB with 3600 CL 16 EVGA FTW3 ultra 3080 EVGA Supernova G3 at 750W, using three NVME SSDs. All Samsung drives are around 4TB, varying sizes (I prefer keeping SSD usage near 75% max and avoiding frequent deletions).
Issue: Last time I used the PC on 3/28 without problems, I traveled and returned Monday. The next day I opened browsing online and it froze. No BSOD or audio issues—just a frozen screen with no responsiveness. Pressing power button didn’t shut it off; I had to flip the PSU switch. After rebooting multiple times, the PC wouldn’t boot.
Diagnosis: First reboot failed, stopped at postcode 05; CPU, DRAM, VGA, and BOOT LEDs off. Had to reset the PSU again (now a habit). Received error code 00 but it looped for a couple of seconds. Turned off the PC and left unplugged briefly. After waiting half an hour it rebooted and ran normally for a while, then froze again while searching online.
After that, I encountered freezes at postcode numbers 38, 95, with VGA, DRAM, and CPU lights illuminated. I decided to stop working on the PC and switched to Netflix instead. The next day I reinstalled RAM and GPU. I delayed touching the CPU to isolate the fault and didn’t know how much thermal paste was left. Reapplying paste didn’t help. After reseating components, the system ran for about four hours before freezing again while playing a game.
Later attempts froze at postcodes 38, 95, with all lights on. I gave up and went to Netflix. Today I tried using only essentials—keyboard, mouse, one monitor, no audio or anything—and it still froze.
It has been freezing while I was adjusting the BIOS. It seems unrelated to CPU or GPU usage; even synthetic benchmarks once worked for over a year on this rig. The 750W PSU might be insufficient, but it’s performed reliably for more than a year despite heavy use. However, a failing PSU could fail during startup under load—though I usually see warning signs like incorrect clock readings or flashing lights.
Other details: The machine is connected to a UPS. My apartment experiences power fluctuations, but I notice them through erratic clock behavior or display glitches. Recently I bought a sit/stand desk; since the PC runs on it, maybe the inertia of the AIO pump affected the CPU socket? I’m stuck and mostly planning component swaps at random.
Your CPU temperatures during freezes are normal since Ryzen CPUs automatically shut down at high heat (110/115°C). However, a faulty AIO pump could generate excess heat leading to similar problems. If your system runs continuously, the issue might not be here. You could test with an air cooler to confirm if the pump is the cause.
