Looking for cheaper options for Windows 8.1 beyond the $99 retail price? You might find deals on sites like G2A, but verify their legitimacy carefully. Direct purchases from Microsoft typically offer the most reliable performance and support.

Many have experienced success with G2A, yet some unreliable information has circulated about it. It’s advisable to buy from a trusted, verified seller.

G2A is genuine, though they offer MDSN keys that are valid for about a year or two.

It seems you're asking about the timeline for purchasing something and whether the operating system will cease functioning within a couple of years.

The operating system will stop working in a few years unless you manually turn it back on using the key you purchased from G2A. You can still run Windows without activation, but there will be issues such as missing security updates, some features not functioning, and other unknown problems. Using a full OS is recommended for stability.

For a permanent setup, you're likely limited to Windows 7.
