I reside in a remote location where internet choices are scarce. Therefore, I subscribe to a 10Mbps plan just like everyone else pays for a 10Gbps connection. This is the fastest speed currently offered locally. During speed tests, my results match what my ISP normally delivers—7 to 10 Mbps, 60 ping, and minimal jitter. However, when I attempt downloads from external sources, my speeds drop significantly to just 1 to 70 KB/s (0.008 Mbps to 0.56 Mbps). Is this typical? If not, what steps should I take to improve my download performance so it aligns with the expected speeds?
Thanks for the update. I checked the pathing and traced the issue, confirming high loss at those hop ranges. Zayo’s performance on those segments is concerning. I’m hoping for a quick resolution.
I have access to a wide range of internet services. This conversation is taking place during the current time of day.
