Hi there. I encountered an unusual problem, not sure how to resolve. It has been occurring for some time now, but today I realized a pattern. My internet stops working for a few minutes whenever I open the Firefox web browser. For instance, when I started downloading a game on Steam, everything seemed normal and it was downloading fine. Once I opened Firefox, the download speed dropped drastically to zero. Websites in Firefox also stopped working; if I visit YouTube, I get an error about my internet connection. Then the PC would shut down for a few minutes, after which everything worked again. When I noticed the internet vanished when opening Firefox, I tried the same with Chrome but it didn’t help with the Steam download.

If you try downloading another popular browser or using Edge, will the same problem appear?

I completed my usual tasks. After restarting the pc, I played my game briefly, turned it off, then opened Discord and instead of Firefox, I used Edge this time. Everything worked fine. Then I decided to open Firefox again. This session was much shorter than before—just about a minute—but it still happened. The download on Steam started immediately, but websites didn’t respond in either browser, and my internet seemed to disappear completely even for a short period.

I'm not very familiar with Firefox since I don't use it. Is there a way inside the browser to reset the defaults, as if it were a general problem? It seems like a mistake might have happened—like a key being clicked or a typo on the keyboard. Try checking if that improves things. There could also be an issue with the firewall blocking access, but that's above my pay grade. Have you tried pinging 8:8:8:8 from Firefox (Google)?

What game is this? Reference?
Determine the router's make and model (or modem/router if combined).
Check the router's logs for hints (if accessible and enabled).
Identify the user with complete administrative privileges, who will assist you.

It appears there are some problems with Firefox in recent versions and hardware acceleration. Consider disabling it to check if it helps (no cost involved). Just open Firefox, navigate to the settings page, scroll down to Performance, and uncheck both "Use recommended performance settings" and "Use hardware acceleration." Close Firefox and retest.
