Hi. You have an old Arris TG862 modem/router that you've relied on for years. It came with your ISP. In your area, internet sometimes drops or power outages occur. Recently, the connection stopped completely. The modem shows two flashing lights: one orange for DSL, another green for battery, and solid green lights for power, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. However, it doesn’t light up for US, online services, secure connections, or both telephone lines 1 and 2. I don’t remember the exact number of green lights when it worked normally—though I think there were at least six solid green bars. Now there are three solid green lights, plus an orange flashing one and a green flashing one. Usually, the internet restarts after a delay or a day, but it’s still this way.

I unplugged the power cord, reconnected it, then removed and reinserted the power cable from the outlet—no improvement. Later, I took out the battery and put it back in. That didn’t help either. I tried resetting the device, but that didn’t resolve the problem.

I’m wondering if the battery is dead or if there’s another issue. Should I reset the modem/router? If so, how do I do that? Would I need to change the password or reset it from scratch? Also, if the green and orange lights are still on, does that mean the battery failed, or is there something else going on?

I recall the ISP helped before—either fixing the modem or replacing the battery. Maybe a cable issue in the building caused it. If you want advice, I’d suggest checking the power connections carefully, trying a different outlet, and seeing if other devices connect. If you’re unsure, contacting the ISP again would be wise.
