Internet connection is lagging on the new PC.
Hello. I just completed my first build: an I5 8600k processor, MSI B360 Gaming Plus graphics card, 16GB RAM, and a freshly installed Windows 10. I followed the YouTube tutorials step by step, but I’m facing a problem—my wireless adapter is plugged into USB, yet I can’t connect to Wi-Fi. On other devices it works smoothly with fast connections, but on my PC everything loads very slowly and downloads at around 3.5 MB/s. I’ve downloaded drivers for various devices and installed them from a USB drive, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. I’m hoping you can help me fix this. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Panel Control\Network & Internet detects your adapter, right-click and choose diagnose. Windows will attempt to reset the network connections for that adapter. If no issues occurred, right-click the adapter and select properties. Double-click "Internet Protocol Version 4" under lower options, then enter "use the following dns" with inputs 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8
DNS mainly affects how quickly pages load, yet the reported download speed of around 3bits per second suggests another issue. Still worth trying, as name resolution problems might block the downloads. Have you restarted your router or modem?
As I previously discussed, I completed all the essential tasks every newcomer must accomplish
I understand, it feels like searching for something in a big pile. I faced this issue before too—Wi-Fi wasn't strong, so I connected to a laptop, and after some time it worked again. Maybe it's related to a Windows update. @Mentor1g, try updating the laptop with the laptop setup.
Are other gadgets on the same Wi-Fi network functioning properly? Do you have any firewall or security programs that manage your network adapter? Have you tested using an Ethernet cable to verify Ethernet connectivity? (noting the specific port) Have you reviewed the Network tab in Task Manager to ensure no other processes are consuming excessive bandwidth?
