Intermittent connection problems with keyboard and mouse switches on the home PC.
I possess a simple keyboard-mouse switch that functions most of the time. I work from home and can quickly switch between my work PC and my personal computer most of the time. Sometimes, though, when I return to my home setup, the keyboard and mouse stop working again. The work PC remains fine, but the one on my home machine doesn’t respond. This switch has no installation drive. I have another hub connected for external devices like hard drives and USB sticks. I’m confused about what to do next. My system is Windows 10 Home Pro, and this issue has occurred intermittently for months. Even after replacing a mouse and performing a keyboard switch, the problem continues. Might other USB devices be causing the problem? I’m unsure how to proceed and really appreciate any guidance you can offer.
Does the home computer enter sleep mode after you change settings? If so, verify the Windows configuration allows the mouse and keyboard to wake it from sleep.
It looks like the mouse is allowed to wake the PC, and the power-saving option is not enabled. I also verified that USB selective suspend is off. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
