Intermediary filtering technique applied Man-in-the-middle used for blocking Content filtered through proxy layer
Hi everyone, I’ve set up a Pihole but it isn’t stopping many of the ads UBlock can catch. I know UBlock checks the browser elements and blocks ads, while Pihole uses DNS to do the blocking. If someone is intercepting our connection, can Pihole also block ads in the same way? Please let me know if this happened before—I’d like to explore a similar solution.
It involves more than just checking the data—it also requires changing it, which is a complex process. Managing redirects adds extra effort, whereas Ublock handles them automatically because the browser already inspects them. In short, while detailed inspection and modification for ad-blocking are feasible, they demand significant work.
