Interface shows parts on Windows 10 screen
I purchased a refurbished HP ProDesk (7th gen i5) with the goal of converting it into a dedicated server. When I powered it on today for an OS backup, the display appeared fragmented. I recall seeing IMG_1754.HEIC and IMG_1756.HEIC files, noting the resolution was fixed only once at startup but remains locked at 2560x1440. The issue persists across both DP ports and the VGA port on my 1080 and 1440 monitors, as well as an old flat-screen TV with unknown resolution. It might be a driver problem, but I’m unsure how to investigate further with the current setup. Any advice would be helpful!
Considered a possibility and accessed the BIOS, which is functioning properly—definitely Windows. After exploring the BIOS settings, I unknowingly returned to Windows and everything worked again. Now I’m planning to install updates to prevent this from happening again.
When purchasing a second-hand or refurbished product outside a big store, reinstall it right away! It resolves many issues and avoids unexpected problems.
Also mentioned! I wasn’t aware of this before—I’m planning to swap the OS, but then realized keeping a fully licensed Windows copy might be useful later.
