I was looking at intel processors on New Egg, and I found some core i5s for a really odd price. They were sometimes sub 100 and shipped from China. They claim it is in a new condition, and the shipping is free. I have no idea how trustworthy this is, especially considering New Egg is supposedly a reputable seller. I really need some help discerning whether this is a scam or not. I know the answer sounds really obvious, but I might as well ask

These listings come from various sellers on the platform, not just Newegg. It’s similar to how items appear on Amazon versus those sold or shipped directly by Amazon.

Take a closer look and you'll notice these items come from unreliable third-party sellers, all listed under Newegg.

Newegg also features marketplace vendors similar to other stores such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. Your choice depends on whether you prefer purchasing from a third party or not. Newegg serves as the public face.

I understand. Thanks for sharing the details. I noticed they were coming from a third-party seller, which made me question their reliability. They were listing an i5 12600k for $140, which is more than $100 below the recommended price. I was hoping to find a good deal.

It's not quite the same as when Amazon partners with third-party services, allowing some fulfillment options. If delivery issues arise, you can hold Amazon accountable. Those quick sellers on Newegg might just brush it off.

It's particularly concerning given Newegg's poor reputation for customers. I'd doubt anything from them, and I wouldn't purchase from any questionable seller.
