Hello, I've been playing a lot of Fallout 4. However, I've noticed with my decent hardware, when entering new areas like Diamond City, I experience significant lag and my frame rate drops from around 70 to 40. This stuttering lasts about a minute before stopping. My GPU usage spikes from about 10 percent to 60 down to 20 and then jumps back up to 99, followed by a drop to around 5. My settings are all on ultra, but I've heard it's relatively easy to run. With an FX 6300, should I still be able to play this on ultra? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Noah

The clear culprit might be your CPU struggling to keep up. However, it could stem from a combination of issues like slow HDDs or insufficient RAM. --- Fallout 4 appears to hold a significant amount of its texture data in RAM, making it one of the newer AAA titles that gain advantages from quicker RAM speeds. It may also suffer from limited free VRAM.

Fallout 4 appears to favor powerful and fast processors. Running it isn't straightforward; while some sections are manageable, shifting locations makes it significantly more challenging...the game feels only moderately refined.

Share your HDD and RAM rates since digital foundry has noticed similar problems on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Using quicker memory and storage options can help reduce these issues.

Wow, GeForce experience usually makes everything either off or reduced and shows a big warning about not playing at optimal settings. It even suggests lowering the resolution to 720p. Maybe it's my CPU that's causing this issue—definitely not my 970, correct? Thanks for your response.

It's not the same model; it works great with mine at 970, using 1080p60 on high settings, just because I have a 3770k gives me a different experience.

My RAM speed stays at the standard 1600MHz while my HDD spins at 7200 RPM. Despite that, I often see slow load times. I’d love to have extra space on my SSD—maybe free up some room and move it over. Appreciate your advice!
