Hi, a few years back I purchased a pre-built MSI PC (Mag Infinite with an i5-11400f and an RTX 3060ti). Initially it functioned properly, but after some time I noticed decreasing frame rates in games when running high or recommended settings for my GPU. After researching online, I began upgrading various components of the system. I replaced my RAM sticks from a single 16GB to two 8GB units, swapped the MMO for an B560M AORUS motherboard, upgraded the case and CPU cooler to reduce temperatures, installed a new power supply and performed a Windows reinstall. Despite these changes, the performance remained poor. Benchmarks still show the same low FPS. If I ran a CPU or GPU test, the results matched what I expected for this hardware. Playing games like Valorant gives no noticeable FPS improvement with lower graphics settings. Warzone becomes unplayable on the main map because of FPS fluctuations causing stutters. Fortnite is only playable at low settings, and even then I occasionally see around 30 FPS in certain areas. I’ve tried many different fixes but nothing seems to resolve the issue right now. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!

I built this thing about three years ago. I believed the new RAM sticks resolved the issue, but after some time the frame rate dropped again. That’s why I attempted upgrades to other components, but it didn’t work.

I'm confused... why did you increase the RAM? Didn't think it would connect to this issue? And what do you mean your performance is dropping more and more? You're playing the same game consistently over time—your average FPS is steadily decreasing. That's a strange situation. If your FPS keeps falling during the same session, it's likely overheating.

the ram in the pre-built unit was just one dimm stick. after checking various forums, i realized dual channel ram would improve performance. that helped at first but later fps started dropping again. for example, in valorant i’d see around 220fps initially, but once playing it went down to about 150 fps and even less. as mentioned before, changing graphics settings didn’t make a difference. i’m starting to think my cpu or gpu might be faulty, though benchmarks suggest otherwise. i also believe overheating isn’t an issue anymore because i upgraded the cpu cooler and installed a case with good airflow (nzxt h5).
