I owned a 13700k but due to the crashing and wear problems with Intel, I had to sell it. My concern is whether I should keep my money or switch to a 12900k. From what I've heard, 12gen didn't have this problem and after the upcoming bios update (and the August fix), performance will be lower than when it launched—maybe even worse than the 13700k. Should I drop the performance edge of the 13700k in favor of the 12900k? Also, an alternative is that AM5 might be a better choice, but right now it's not practical to upgrade my setup. What do you think? The 14th generation is definitely not ideal at this point.
This seems like a promising concept. I’m looking for a reasonably priced option, possibly available during a discount event.
i believe changes to the higher-end chips also impacted the lower models. It just adds more time (like oxidation, which Intel confirmed). I’d prefer to skip the 13/14 generation and definitely avoid downgrading from an i7 to an i5—it feels odd. Also, Buildzoid mentions VMINs that vary widely for i5s ranging from 1.2 to 1.5v, which might explain why the i7 and i9 degrade so quickly. This was updated on July 26, 2024 by CasoF13.
Based on current insights, the 13,700k appears more likely to succeed after the necessary adjustments compared to the 12,900k.

you can wait for the update before making any changes; i think the 12900k should match the 13700k.
