I just finished watching Linus's review and benchmarking for the 12900K and 12600K. I still need some details about the P cores and E cores. My question is, do the E cores really have no impact on gaming performance? Towards the end of the video, when discussing games specifically, Linus called the 12600K a "6 core processor" because it has six P cores, but it also includes four E cores for a total of ten cores. It's listed as a 10-core CPU on some sites. Do games only use the P cores? I might have missed something in the video that would clarify this, but it wasn't clear at first.

It varies by game. For some, you'll notice better performance, while others might not.

The purpose of turning them off is to stop their operation and conserve energy.

Overclocking is essentially increasing performance beyond standard limits.

Some folks disable the red channels to push the blue ones even further, because the blue ones handle the bulk of the work.

Oh, this is really helpful. So from what I understand now, most games that are out right now probably won't benefit from the E cores, and in some cases, the E cores can even hinder gaming performance. In which case, if I'm eyeing an i7 12700K 12 core CPU for example, it's really an 8 core CPU when gaming and 12 cores for most other applications.
