Intel's 14th Gen Meteor Lake will use a specific socket.
No updates have been released about the LGA 1700 socket. It appears to be replacing older versions, and some motherboards are compatible with both LGA 1700 and the newer variants for the 14th generation.
No official updates have been released yet, as they plan to keep quiet until the launch date approaches. Looking at past patterns, it seems likely another "new" socket will be introduced, considering their usual support for two CPU generations per chipset/socket and our previous 12/13th generation pairing. Meteor Lake also appears to be a significant departure from previous designs, which could push them toward a fresh socket type. I’d prefer better compatibility at least.
