I'm interested in understanding how much the e-cores can manage. It would be great if they perform well enough to handle all background OS tasks, allowing P-cores to run games smoothly. I prefer sticking with Windows 10; some features in Windows 11 felt too basic, like the simplified right-click menus. Still, I miss when a good board cost around $150. The cheapest Z690 boards I've seen are DDR4-only and lack many advanced options. Also, I don't see much value in trying to save money on a new build since GPUs are usually the most expensive component.

If I were building, I'd get the i7-12700KF with a $240ish DDR5 mobo. But unless there's more than 20% gain in gaming over my 10900KF, I won't feel compelled to get it. That said, I've been on W11 for a few months now without any significant complaints other than the secondary display clock.

Despite a 20% improvement, I wouldn’t change what I’m using. I mostly play siege and it performs smoothly at over 250fps on my ultrawide with high settings. There’s no need to upgrade right now, but I’m curious about the results.

I mainly enjoy FF14 and any games that catch my interest on Xbox Gamepass. Recently Back 4 Blood was popular, but it's not very challenging. I'm hoping to keep the 10900K for a few more years. I'm thinking about around 2023-24, which should give me three more years of playtime similar to what I had after leaving the 8700k.
