Intel xtu experiencing crashes
i'm pushing my 3550 i5 to higher speeds, clocking between 3.9-4.0ghz. It's running at 1866mhz now, which is an upgrade from the previous setting before the XTU stopped working. It might be because I switched to a different power supply and graphics card.
The i5-3550 runs at 3.3GHz base with a turbo of 3.7GHz and isn't overclocked. Are you certain you're not running a 3570K? Still, frequent XTU crashes usually point to instability, often caused by CPU overclocking. Lower the frequency or adjust the voltage, and the issue should resolve once you reach a stable setting.
you're asking if I'm getting a bit confused. after four years with this cpu, i can share a bios screenshot if you want to check if turbo 3.7ghz works. overclocking it to 3.9ghz didn't cause problems until i switched the gpu and psu, which then made it impossible for intel xtu to run properly. maybe the changes in gpu and power supply affected things?
