I've adjusted it and it functions well on LGA 775. I still have another question about whether it will work with an Xeon 5450 at 4GHz. If your motherboard is LGA 775 (just keep in mind the spacing issue, not the socket shape), then it should be fine. For performance, I wouldn't go over the recommended limits much. It might work, but it only has two heat pipes and I don't think it will be sufficient. The Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO has four heat pipes and should handle things much better.
