The top CPU likely depends on availability—if the 5800X is in stock nearby, grab it. Otherwise, Intel usually performs best unless otherwise stated.
I believe I have an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X system and one of my friends uses an Intel 10700K. I wanted to check how it compares, so I asked him for a benchmark screenshot. I thought a 5800X would be significantly better (+174 in single core, a bit more in multicore) and noticed maybe I've overclocked it myself. In my opinion, AMD is performing much better in games, though I saw some frame drops. I think it would be better to call them "Alien Micro Devices." Being an Intel user for seven years, seeing 5000 AMDs really surprised me!
AMD stands out as the top choice, priced at $450, while Intel offers a more affordable budget alternative around $325. AMD tends to be the best performer, whereas Intel is generally cheaper.
Due to the affordable price range and stock availability, I opted for Intel since the latest AMD model I managed to secure was from the 3000 series.
When your tasks can use several cores, the 10850k usually costs around $399 or less, making it cheaper than the 5800x.
