i came up with those two setups: games like csgo, gta v, wd2, valorant, and a bit of fortnite (just for fun). anarea battle royale, warzone, and need for speed heat+payback software. renders in premiere pro and after effect at 1080p or 1440p with 60fps. just need the cpu to handle this resolution so the video runs smoothly instead of lagging. components for the new trio include corsair h100x 240mm aio antec hcg gold 850w, ororus rtx 2080 simple sata ssd, and two hdds.
first option: intel build i5 10600k, gigabyte vision g, corsair 3600mhz cl18, 779 dollars. both cpus will be overclocked to max.
second option: amd build ryzen 7 3800x, gigabyte b550, ororus pro, corsair 3600mhz cl18, 805 dollars.
I'm struggling to design a setup that balances maximum gaming performance with a budget that prioritizes high-end GPUs over CPU power. It feels unrealistic to invest heavily in the CPU unless the GPU already offers top-tier performance. Even then, a 3600 chip works well with a 2080; I wouldn't even think about Intel unless my GPU setup was already at its limit. A "low" budget build can't justify adding over 100 CPU costs for minimal gains. Every penny should go toward the GPU. Once you're in the high-end GPU range, that's when I'd consider Intel for its full capabilities.
I own a 2080 Aorus and am confident it’s in good condition. If the 3080 becomes reasonably priced, I’d consider swapping it in and adding a little extra for the new model.
