Hey everyone, I'm just beginning to use my CPU but it's acting strange. Even after boosting from 3.7GHz to 3.8, the voltage increase is only 0.0125 and temperatures keep rising above 93°C during benchmarks in Cinebench R15. My motherboard is the Strix B350-F Gaming, I'm using an ASUS RTX 2070S with a MSI power supply, and I have Corsair H100i V2 with 16GB RAM. I'm keeping RAM at around 2.10GHz instead of the default. I've noticed others boosting their clocks to 4.0 or 4.1GHz with similar voltage gains, but my CPU only reaches 76°C max on that test. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Boost reaches 3.7 or 3.8, not 4.0. Cooling problems are confirmed. Consider swapping the AIO or using an air cooler to check for issues.

It halts at version 3.8. On 3.7 I’m seeing about 90% completion, but thank you—I’ll switch to a cooler. If anyone has further tips, I’ll try those boosts in Ryzen Master and Bio. I should note I forgot to mention that too.

Start by managing the temperatures before focusing on OC. After that, Ryzen Master can help achieve around 4.2. The 1800X offers limited space for modifications.

I don’t have personal preferences, but you might consider looking into popular options like the Anker Nitro Charge or the Cooler Master Hyper 2. Check reviews and compare features before deciding.

Well, didn't the 1800X come with a cooler? I'm just wanting you to grab ANY cooler and see if it controls temps at all. I think your AIO is seated badly or failing, so we need a cooler that just simply works properly. The 1800X can hit stock boost on any working cooler basically. But if you want an air cooler to use for OC... I'd look into the Black Rock 4 (Pro optional) or Noctua offerings.

Unfortunately, the 1800x wasn't included with the cooler. Since I previously used an AM4 slot with an AMD processor, I don’t have a cooler that fits an AM4 slot for Ryzen. Thank you for your advice—do you think a water or air cooler would be better?

The 1800X lets you go straight for it. As I mentioned, you can't really force them as hard as with Intel, so you hit a ceiling from the chips rather than temperature issues—assuming the cooler is up to the task. I personally prefer the Black Rock 4.
