Hello..
I plan to purchase an Intel Core2Quad Q9650 OEM version processor.
My question is, can I overclock this chipset since it's an OEM model?
I saw somewhere that they shouldn't be overclocked.
Here are the details:
Gigabyte G41M combo motherboard.
DDR3 1066Mhz 4Gb ram
1 Tb WD hdd
Nvidia GT640
Previous processor - Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4Ghz.

Sharing a link about where you found that information would be helpful. Ideally, you could ask me to boost the X48 platform more since it handles overclocking better. On the G41, you're just operating the system with a chance of damaging the VRM if you push it too hard. You'll also need a strong cooling solution for the Q9650. I just want to make sure you understand what you're working with. If these parts are worth your money, go for it. But if they're essential, maybe think twice.

Could you share the link where you read about it? Ideally, I'd suggest boosting the X48 platform because it handles overclocking better. On the G41, you're just risking damaging the VRM if you push it too hard. You'll also need a strong cooling system for that Q9650.
I just want to make sure you understand what you're working with. If these specs are worth it, go for it. But if they're crucial, maybe reconsider.
