Hello everyone. I have a major concern. I wasn't aware of the QVL compatibility when I purchased the RAM. My rig is an Asus x570 Dark Hero with a 5950x CPU, an AMD Sapphire Liquid Edition 6950 Toxic and a 1500W dark power supply. The setup is quite powerful. The issue is that the RAM I bought is the gSkill ZRoyal Elite 64GB, 2666 MHz (4266 OC). Here’s the link: https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/362/16230...64GTEG-QVL

My questions are: Can I adjust the memory speed from 4266 to 3600-3800 MHz when OC? If so, which profile should I use—XMP or EXPO? Also, what about the built-in AMD OC system? (Sorry, I forgot its name) Should I still set BIOS OC parameters for the in-built AMD OC if it’s there? And will the performance of the modified version match the 64GB 2166(3600) AMD compatible version?

It'll function well using only the AMD DOHC/EXPO for DDR4. G. Skill RAM performs excellently.

Unless you truly care about RAM speed, just accept the quad rank limitation and return the memory. For better performance, consider upgrading to a 3200C16/3600C18 2x32 or 4x16 package, which will let you reach higher frequencies. If you're curious about tuning, 64GB might not be worth it because 16GB data rates are limited by I/O bottlenecks. In this scenario, focus on keeping the die temperature under control—use enough VDAC as needed, and aim for speeds just below 3600MHz. For stability, keep voltages around 1.5V unless you can reliably hit 3800MHz. Avoid wasting power on unnecessary features; prioritize real performance gains.

My view on 5950X versus the likely 5950X3D is unclear. Considering you plan to stream and edit videos for YouTube, switching to X3D might be worthwhile if it offers better performance or features for your workflow.

It was an early version that failed the checks. The expected size won’t be 5950x3d.

Consider getting a 7950x instead, as many people would still buy it for $200. You could also return the RAM for a 64GB or 96GB DDR5 kit.
