I operate 4x8G dimms at 3570K with Z77 boards. You're also confident you can run 4x8G on the chipsets mentioned. OP, I just replaced 30 1165G7 Thinkpad L15s today. They function well with 2x16G budget JEDEC 3200 dimms. I suspect the manufacturer didn<|pad|> to restrict RAM beyond just having one SODIMM slot. We also have four L15s with two 32G SODIMMs, everything works perfectly. So in short, no major concerns.

They updated it to 4 x8GB dimmers, but I believed the lower-end chipset remained unchanged.

With two memory channels and two slots, plus an integrated chipset, it seems the OEM might have restricted RAM beyond just slot count or power limits. I'll give it a shot and watch how it goes. In the worst case, we might need to return the sticks. PS.: I just verified the Lenovo L15 g2 with i7-1165g7, which claims support for up to 64GB RAM according to Lenovo. I didn't find the exact TDP setting, but in my machine it's listed at 15W (max supported is 28W), which could hint at the memory cap.

TDP shouldn<|pad|> a CPU shouldn’t restrict RAM options. The latest laptops I’ve tested handle high power draw as long as cooling is sufficient.
