I've been using this PC for GTA 5 lately. After 30 to over an hour, the game starts lagging. I ran a stress test on my Intel XTU (see attached images). The results show thermal throttling and current throttling. I'm not an expert, so I need some advice from others. I didn't adjust any BIOS settings, just wanted to stick with the default configuration. Also, please note my specs: Intel I7-10700F CPU, cooler master lite 120AIO, Gigabyte B460M DS3H v1, RTX 2070, 16GB DDR4 RAM, cooler master 550V PSU, Samsung NVME 500GB SSD, and one TB HDD.
Your current AIO might be too small for your 10700 setup. Could it be an older model you're using? Are the impeller and motor functioning properly? Is the system free of debris?
overheating is happening because your setup uses a small 120AIO, and the voltage regulator is limiting the current since the 10700 can't handle it.
Everything looks fine, but I'm not sure if your temperatures are stable. Let me know if you need help!
These 120/140 AIO units are often unnecessary and costly. Better air cooling options are available at lower prices, and they tend to have fewer points of failure. If the unit has been running for a while, inspecting the mounting and repasting it could be worthwhile.
Thanks for your feedback. The pre-built PC setup doesn’t allow room for a larger AIO like the Cooler Master K380, which is limiting performance. I think air cooling would be a better option now. Regarding your CPU temperatures, modern i7s typically stay below 94°C and rarely exceed 85°C under normal use.
Regarding the CPU cooler, what price range are you considering? For the fans, given the case design that accommodates only one front, rear, bottom, and side fan slot, I suggest using Arctic Cooling P12 fans and filling all available slots. If your AIO supports it, you could also install two additional high-quality fans (such as P12) in a push-pull arrangement to enhance cooling performance beyond the standard setup.
The budget won't be a concern since it provides the desired outcomes
