Hi guys
I'm having an issue. My setup includes an Intel I5 4670K with 4.4 volts and a Corsair H100i GTX in a Nzxt H440. When the case is open, my temps stay around 39 to 41 degrees, but when the top is closed they spike up to 50 or more. Is this typical for a H100i? I thought it should be much lower. Thanks!

It relies on the surrounding temperature. Execute a stress testing program such as AIDA 64 or Prime95 for some time, then record your CPU temperature under full load.

The result varies with your room temperature. Try a stress test program like AIDA 64 or Prime95 for a short time and record your CPU temperature at full load. At 80 degrees, running Prime95 for 10 minutes while keeping the fans at 2400 RPM is typical. What bothers me is the idle temperature rising too high—when I checked online. To maintain under 45°C during idle, fans should be set to around 1500 RPM.

How have you arranged your radiator fans for operation? Push or pull, or push/pull?
In what position is the radiator setup, considering the fans outside the chassis between the shroud can trap heat inside?
Which tools are you using to track your temperatures? BIOS temperature monitor?

SPgamer007 shares some insights based on your environment. Running stress tests such as AIDA64 or Prime95 at full load and checking CPU temps is a good idea. For example, with Prime95 running for 10 minutes at 100% load, the CPU temperature should stay under 45°C. At around 80 degrees during Prime95, you're likely seeing high temps. To maintain temperatures below 45°C while idle, fans should spin at about 1500 RPM.

There seems to be no issue with the chip itself—4670K is a common temperature for Intel chips compared to others like 4690K. You might have three intake fans on the H440 case, and possibly two additional exhaust fans if you only have one rear fan.

Idle temps can rise to around 50°C, but anything under 75°C is normal for your CPU. Prime95 is known for intense stress testing; with a 4.4GHz chipset, you should stay below 70°C in games. Make sure you have enough exhaust fans to match the intake.

You could also reapply thermal paste if needed.

It depends on your ambient temperature. Run some stress tesing program like aida 64,prime 95 for a while and post your CPU temperature at 100% load.
80 degres runing prime95 for 10 min. with the cpu fans at 2400 rpm. The thing that uppsets me is under idle. the temp is going to high... when Im just on google. In order to keep the temp under 45 on idle . I need to have the fans at 1500 rmps.
There is nothing wrong in the chip, 4670k in nature runs hotter than other intel chipset for ex. 4690k.
How many case fans you have installed, i guess h440 comes with 3 intake fans which are at front? There also should be more exhaust fans, 2 more, if you only have 1 rear exhaust fan.
Also, you don't have to worry for idle temp alot. 50c is higher, but anything under 75c is normal for your CPU. Prime 95 is an intense stress testing program, in games you won't cross above 70c with that 4.4ghz chipset that generally runs hotter than new intel chipset.
You should have as much exhaust fans as intake fans.
You can try reapplying thermal paste.
Update ! I just find out that my Corsair H100i GTX was leaking !.......

1| How have you arranged your radiator fans to function? Push or pull, or push/pull?
2| What position are you using for the radiator setup since the fans outside the chassis between the shroud can cause heat to circulate inside your chassis.
3| Which tools are you employing to track your temperatures? BIOS temperature monitor?
I used them in push/pull mode, placed them near the case front because I can’t push pull on top. Now they’re just pushed. But there’s another issue. I discovered the Corsair was leaking... so yeah.. that’s a big deal. I’ll replace it soon.
