Hi Everyone, I own an Intel i5-11500 CPU that appears to be malfunctioning. The motherboard becomes stuck on the VGA LED indicator even when using a GPU and not relying on built-in graphics. The board doesn’t pass VGA Gigabyte’s debug code, making it hard to identify the issue. The CPU heats up significantly; I removed the heat sink and noticed it getting very hot. I’ve tried several fixes: swapping the 10500 into a Gigabyte Z490 Vision D worked, updated the BIOS to F9a, and changed memory configurations. However, when I put the 11500 in the Z490 board it wouldn’t boot, even after updating to F22c. I also experimented with using only one memory stick and moving it between slots, but the 10500 still worked. I’m considering replacing the CPU since it’s still under warranty, but I’d appreciate any alternative suggestions. Thanks.

Unless you can use another board for testing, it looks like returning to the store on Monday is your best choice. I’m sorry to hear about your situation, but it seems you’ve made the most of what’s available.

I checked the 11500 on my Z490 and Z590 boards, but it didn’t work even after updating to the newest BIOS versions. It’s disappointing because this was my first CPU experience, and I still have my Intel i7-5930K and the board, which makes me miss that experience.

I'm really aware of this—it's bittersweet because it's my first dead CPU. It was a quiet hero behind the scenes for about two years before I needed it. The RMA begins on Monday, fingers crossed it's straightforward. Still lucky it's still covered, though I know it won't be Asus or Gigabyte.
