Dear All those who are way smarter with computer stuff than I (That would be most of you), I currently have an old Win10 PC, it has 6 HDDs which are mirrored under Intel Raid So it shows a boot drive and a 6tb drive and a 10tb drive. I like this. If a drive falls over, I swap it out. If I want to move all the data from one of the raid discs, I can plug one of them into a caddy and hit copy. No fancy array, no proprietary system - it's simple and works. There are 2 additional SATA sockets which cannot be RAIDed - but they're used for DVD and removable caddy. I want to build a new Win10 PC. And I'd like to use the new 10th gen Intel chip on a Z490 board. There are problems though: It seems you have to choose between using M2 memory, an additional graphics card, or 6 hard disks in a RAID mirror arrangement. But not all 3, or even 2 out of 3. Ideally, I'd like the extra grunt of a graphics card to compliment the CPU, booting from 2 M2 sticks which are mirrored (1 boot array) and then have 6 hard disks mirrored (3 storage arrays) But motherboard says no. It seems as soon as you plug a graphics card in, you lose a M2 slot or two, or you lose a couple of SATA slots...if you want RAID on all SATA slots you can't have M2 and so forth. So my question *finally* is - what board is going to give me the best outcome here? Or should I wait a while for more boards to be released with better functionality?
