Hey, this is just a discussion Don't act like 5yr fanboys thanks so let me start my argument, now we don't have 3rd party benchmarks yet but by the prices we seen the r7 5800x is going to be 80$ more expensive in the us and in the eu the lowest price it was seen at is 470 euro and that's a 100 euro extra on top of the 10700k but assuming AMD showed us higher numbers than what were actually getting it might not be worth it to take a ryzen 7 over an i7 for me its worse, I live in Israel and the price here seems to be looking around the 140$ marks Now by the way its looking (at least here) I might just build my next system as an Intel one
I haven't seen any of the Ryzen videos from the 5000 series yet and haven't read anything about them. That's why I'm not making any comments. I'm just curious—when did the i7, r7 become considered mid-end? Even with the i9, i7, r8 or r9, I'd still think the 7 series is high-end while the i3, r3 and i5/r3 are mid-range.
So... i7 - 10700k -> 344€ Zen 3 - 5800X -> around 500€ Both 8 cores, Intel offers a GHz edge of about 400-500MHz (still no official gaming benchmarks, no overclocking specs), uses 20W less TDP compared to AMD, and there are cheaper m-ITX So1200 boards available. It looks like AMD has taken its place in the market and is now increasing prices. They’re not the best value for money, unlike a few years ago. As noted before, we’re missing solid real-world gaming comparisons.

The reported 19% IPC boost likely reflects an average across many applications. Gaming's role in this is uncertain, given how complex it becomes when the GPU also impacts performance. Still, improvements over previous Zen 2 models from the CCX update are expected, along with general IPC gains. How games utilize CPU resources varies widely—some demand maximum power, others prefer efficiency. Thus, certain systems might not fully benefit from a Zen 3 upgrade. When considering builders or buyers, we can broadly categorize options:
1. Budget-conscious, value-driven – Prioritizing cost and getting the most for money, especially since AMD has been strong in this area since the Ryzen 2 era. Optimization shifts toward meeting specific performance goals rather than pure value.
2. Premium, high-performance – Users seeking top-tier features are willing to pay more, opting for models like the 3080 instead of higher-end alternatives.
3. Mid-range, balanced – A compromise between cost and capability, where price matters less than overall performance.

Frequency is irrelevant without IPC data. A 5GHz CPU will work just fine compared to a 2GHz 3700 model.
Some believe Zen3 prices will initially be limited to the launch batch, potentially dropping slightly after a few months. This isn't an unusual pattern, so I'm not expecting long-term optimism. My main worry is securing a unit near release. The excitement around Zen3 is similar to what happened with the RTX 30 series, and AMD has a history of supply issues when inventory spikes.
It’s honest to admit the stock isn’t available right now. I might go for a simpler choice like an i5 10500 or Ryzen 5 3600 and just enjoy using it for a few months.
