Comparing the two options, Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet generally offers better performance than Realtek 2.5 Gb Ethernet in most scenarios. The Asus Prime Z790-A supports Intel's faster speeds, while Realtek is more common in budget builds. For Windows 11 and Wi-Fi 5GHz up to 150 Mbps, Intel tends to deliver a smoother experience.

Intel outperforms Realtek. Choose Intel if possible instead of Realtek.

Typically, in regular consumer usage, you won't see much difference. But Intel offers better compatibility, especially with non-Windows operating systems.

I've experienced Realtek NICs losing connections unpredictably or when performing extended transfers to my NAS. Intel typically costs more than twice that of Realtek NICs.

Certainly! In fields like deep learning, AI machine learning, and cloud gaming using a PC with Ethernet as a virtual machine, you can notice the distinctions more clearly.

The discussion around Realtek versus Intel remains largely speculative, relying on outdated claims rather than current facts. People often repeat these statements without checking the latest information. The debate seems to focus mainly on specific technical details like driver compatibility and niche operating systems. If you need support with FreeBSD, features such as teaming and VLANs are more likely to function reliably with Intel NICs compared to Realtek ones. Most users probably won’t encounter problems unless they have a particular issue with their hardware. It’s important not to assume one product is universally better without solid evidence.
