Hey, I noticed you wanted to try overclocking your P4 2.4c processor in the BIOS, but discovered it wasn't possible there. After looking into it, I found out it's indeed "impossible to overclock on an Intel board." Regarding third-party options, there aren't any reliable programs that can bypass this restriction. It might be worth considering upgrading your motherboard for better performance instead.
Intel offers an overclocking tool for Windows, but it only supports a limited boost. It isn't possible to adjust settings through the BIOS. You'd need a specialized board from companies like Abit, Aopen, Asus, Biostar, Chaintech, DFI, Epox, FIC, Gigabyte, Holco, Iwill, Jetway...essentially every performance board available outside Intel's lineup.
Hey,
I recently wanted to increase the clock speed of my P4 2.4c chip, but discovered there was no option in the BIOS for this. After checking, I learned it’s not possible to overclock an Intel board. Did I overlook something in the BIOS settings? Or is this really accurate? Also, are there any third-party tools that could help bypass this issue, or should I consider replacing my motherboard with a better one?
Fyi for anyone looking to overclock an Intel D865, I’ve already done it using cpucool with a PLL of 952618. You can find instructions online—here’s a screenshot:
Win7 cpucool overclock 210 fsb ati 275 Pll 952618
Overclocked from 2095 to 3025 stable 3dmark from 1225 to 2295
