I am researching a CPU to buy and core i5 13600K/KF seems a good option. while I was researching, I read on the internet that pairing this CPU with a b760 is bad due to not good enough VRM and I should buy a z790 board because it has better VRMs. Is that true or not? I am super confused.

Some B760 boards can handle the 13600K well, just steer clear of the few that fall short. The B760M PG Riptide stands out for its solid VRMs, offering good value around $130—similar to about $200 Z790 boards. It also supports overclocking even though it's a B-series chip, thanks to its external clock generator.

Not always. A B760 might perform better than a Z790 with sufficient power phases and adequate cooling. Good B760s come from MSI and Gigabyte, offering both DDR4 and DDR5 options.

Compare the Ryzen 7 7700 and the Intel Core i5-13600K to see which suits your needs better. The Ryzen 7 offers strong multi-core performance, while the i5-13600K provides excellent single-threaded speed. Choose based on your workload requirements.

Sure, the PG Riptide works well, but the Riptide is superior. Both perform okay at 13,600K, but I’d prefer the Riptide if you’re thinking about moving to higher temperatures like 13,700K or 14,900K.

You're working with the PC and trying to understand the total build cost. Comparing CPUs becomes clearer with this data. For instance, using the 7700's box cooler for gaming could be worthwhile if you're considering a high-end cooler for the 13600K—though I wouldn't go that route. On the other hand, having 32GB of DDR4 might make the 7700 less useful. The 13600K usually performs better in productivity tests, while the 7700 shines under multithreaded tasks.

I’m looking to play games and work on programming. I already have an RX 7700 XT and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. I just need a CPU, a motherboard, and a power supply unit. So far, the GPU has cost me around 478 euros (since I’m in Europe) and the RAM about 70 euros. I’m planning to spend roughly 300 to 340 euros on the CPU and 180 to 200 euros on the motherboard. Prices vary across Europe due to a 21% VAT on electronics.

I understand based on pricing, options like the i5-13500 and B760 Gaming Plus come to mind. This CPU performs well for general use (see review), but it doesn’t match the performance of a dedicated 13th generation processor like the 13600K.

I have funds for both the i5 13600K and Ryzen 7 7700. You asked about which performs better for programming and gaming, examples of multithreaded tasks, apps that use multithreading, and whether games benefit from it.
