The newest Intel Chipset drivers are 10.0.26, but the release notes don’t clearly confirm support for the Z87 chipset. The page for my Z87-A board was quickly removed after release, so it’s outdated. When I installed Windows 8.1 last year, the Intel site mentioned drivers for the Z87 chipset were version 9.4.0.1027. I tried MSI Live Update 6 to check for BIOS updates on my GTX 970, but it didn’t show any update. It suggested a newer driver (10.0.20), which I found on the Intel site, though the notes are very vague about specific chipset support beyond the 9 series. Some third-party sites list multiple chipsets compatible with 10.0.26, including Z87, but I can’t verify this information since Intel doesn’t provide detailed listings.

I installed the newest Intel Chipset drivers last weekend on an H87 board and everything functions properly. It seems unlikely Intel will remove B/85 H/Z87 support in the coming years. No new features are expected, but existing drivers will remain functional.
