I've been using the same platform since 2013 (Intel X58). My next machine could be from AMD. I probably won't move to a different platform for several years, or maybe I'll use my LGA2011 setup as my main PC. Right now, the latest AMD models I own are K10 based. An AM3 system with an Athlon II X3 and a dual Socket F (LGA1207) setup that has two 6-core Opteron 2419 EE.

I began assembling my own PC around 2009 with an AMD Phenom x4 955. It stayed in use until the FX-8320, then continued until 2018 when I received a free I7-5820K. Now I’m running a Ryzen 3700x, and I plan to upgrade either to a used 5900x when prices drop or wait for the newer models like the 7900x. I’m comfortable staying a generation behind if it offers good value, and honestly, the performance of CPUs these days makes upgrading feel unnecessary, even for video editing.
