I can point the blame at Bulldozer for me going back to Intel.

So what happened? I upgraded from an fx6300 to a 3700x then switched to a 5950x. Honestly, I wouldn’t have stuck with the fx6300 if there wasn’t the 32GB RAM limit on the am3 model.

I use AMD for my main computer, Intel for my laptop and other devices, and my time is mostly split evenly between the two depending on the task. I don’t really stick with one brand; I choose based on what offers the best value. When I first set up my main machine, AMD CPUs were more affordable (I chose the 5900X for a 12-core processor in early 2021), but whenever I picked a cheaper secondary machine or laptop, it was usually an Intel model. If I were building something new tomorrow, I’d likely pick Intel again because of the confusing pricing around AM5 boards versus high-end chips like the 13600K or 13700K on Z690 boards.

Living in reality, used gear is a great choice. I added some second-hand hardware options I didn’t have two years ago that might explain why someone bought something. I spent around $300 on an i5 laptop with a 1050 GPU. I didn’t mind the CPU, but the manufacturer picked Intel and it performed well. Back then, I thought about buying new, but many people in comments shared they got used PCs and saved money.

It uses AMD silicon powered by Zen 2, which means it functions as a Ryzen APU.

It could fit either an AMD PC or a game console, depending on the definition you use.

It makes sense considering it uses x86 hardware and supports Windows, which suggests a laptop setup with a gamepad. I could relate to the console comparison as well.

Previously I used an Intel Core2 mobile in a Dell laptop. Back then I had a bulldozer APU (A8-5500M), followed by the Bulldozer/excavator line (A10-8700P), then upgraded to a Ryzen 3700U, and recently got a custom build with the 2600X. Now I own a new gaming laptop featuring the 5800H. I don’t have any issues with Intel; I only needed top performance for everyday tasks until Ryzen arrived, which really shook things up and I’ve stayed with them ever since.
