I'm setting up my first SFF system and planning to use a Z690 M.2 SSD for my Intel 13600K. I installed the BIOS from Gigabyte and flashed it, then powered on the system. It worked fine at first, but the BIOS didn't recognize XMP profile. After rebooting, I disabled XMP and tried booting from USB to install Windows 11. The installation completed without issues, but when I tried to log in with a Microsoft account, it froze and wouldn't progress. I rebooted several times, but eventually got stuck in a black screen. Once I got a picture, the installer locked me into a login prompt. Some components were working, others showed errors or blue screens. I checked cables and CPU cooler contacts, but everything seemed fine. My specs are Gigabyte Z690 AORUS Ultra, Intel i5 13600K, InfinityBoost X3, DDR5 5600, Corsair SFX 750, 80+ Platinum SSD, and M.2 PCIe 4. I'm reaching out for help, please. Thanks, Lasse.

Because the crash occurs on the GPU side, I’d start by checking the PCIe riser cable—whether it’s Gen 4 or Gen 3—and if the BIOS is configured for that version. For troubleshooting, I’d likely adjust the PCIe slot to Gen 3, since some Z690i models were recalled due to issues with higher Gen 4 signaling, and running at a lower speed might resolve stability problems.

Dank u graag!
