Hey there, everyone. I hope everyone is staying safe during these challenging times. I own an Intel Xeon E3-1225 v2 Ivy Bridge CPU and am planning an upgrade. My goal is to transform this setup into a server running Linux, mainly for streaming movies with Plex. Regarding transcoding, I'm curious which option—Intel HD Graphics P4000 with QSV or NVENC on a GeForce card (likely 1030 or 1050)—performs better for H.264 and H.265 encoding/decode. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks ahead! P.S.: Not sure which forum to post this in, feel free to move it if needed.

NVENC performs much better than QSV, yet GT graphics cards lack NVENC support, which means the 1030 likely isn't suitable.

As mentioned by @jurrunio, NVENC performs much better, while the cheapest card would be a 1959 model with an 1030 chipset.
