The game offers consistent performance when using ray tracing, maintaining stable frames for about 15 minutes before a sudden drop occurs. When playing Witcher 3 with maximum settings and RT enabled, I typically see around 34 to 35 FPS initially. Using lossless scaling helped stabilize it to roughly 30 FPS, which improved to 60 after applying a 2x multiplier. After that, the performance fluctuates between 40 and 50 FPS. My system includes a Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 3060 12GB, 32GB RAM, and a powerful PSU setup. I’ve also used a Biostar X470GTQ GPU and a Lian Li Gallahad cooler. Playing at 1440p is standard. One observation is that switching to lossless scaling didn’t resolve the issue, unlike Rockstar’s GTA V Enhanced, which ran smoothly for hours without such drops.
The first thought is overloading the GPU with VRAM, but that shouldn’t occur even at 12GB—especially with a 1440p display. Try using MSI Afterburner to monitor if anything unusual appears just before FPS drops. Watch for rising temperatures on both CPU and GPU, falling GPU clock speeds, or VRAM saturation.
It seems the issue is likely related to VRAM usage. The average range is between 8500 and 9500 MB, but I haven't reached 10k yet. FPS hasn't dropped despite testing. Interestingly, performance can drop even when the game is paused or in the pause menu for extended periods. CPU temperature stays steady around 80°C, while GPU runs at about 68°C.
