In short, I upgraded my motherboard, RAM, and CPU to a new system running Windows 7. Now I need to upgrade to Windows 10, but the installer says it can't be installed because the disk is in a GPT partition format. On EFI systems, Windows only works on GPT disks. Also, I’m wondering if moving all my important files to the C drive will save them properly.

You can set up a Windows 10 installation on an existing drive while retaining all previous data. This ensures your information remains accessible during the transfer.

I didn't create the Win10 USB drive myself. I generated it based on instructions or data provided.

Did you purchase your Windows 7 from a retailer or did it arrive pre-installed on your computer?

It seems the system is connected via a USB drive and might be damaged. I'm unsure what to do next. I have Windows 7 installed on my main HDD and some important data. After installing a new motherboard with CPU and RAM, I can access the internet but can't use my mouse or keyboard.

It's really frustrating to install and remove motherboards while trying to set up my new system. I'm starting to feel really upset.

Consider your options carefully. What would you like to do next?
