Installing RAM on your new motherboard with a Ryzen 7 5800X
Hi, I recently purchased an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A motherboard and decided to upgrade my RAM. My current setup includes an i7 5820K and a Strix GTX 1080 with 8GB of each type. I have one 8GB stick at 2666MHz and another at 3200MHz. Should I upgrade just the first stick to 3200MHz or both sticks to 3600MHz? The prices here are quite similar.
Corsair 8GB RAM (8GB each) at 2666MHz CL16 Vengeance LPX in red, paired with GOODRAM 8GB at 3200MHz CL16 IRDM in black.
Identify the RAM model in your Goodram by checking PassMark RamMon or Thaiphoon Burner.
Are you playing games? There are several recent titles that handle more than 16GB of storage. For the BIOS, make sure to update it as well. Always run the newest BIOS paired with the latest AGESA.
I’ll play games occasionally, mainly browsing the web, editing photos in Photoshop, and video editing in Premiere. Once I have the needed parts—like a new cooler and a PCIe WiFi card—I’ll update my BIOS to the latest version.
