I have a 4 disc CD ROM set for the game Riven, but there are compatibility problems. When I try to install it, the installation screen appears, I can click install, but it just vanishes and nothing actually sets up. I’m looking for ways to fix this issue.

It's tough to reach your exact system since we don't know the details yet.

Purchase it from Good Old Games:
https://www.gog.com/game/riven_the_sequel_to_myst
GOG usually manages to run vintage titles on current operating systems and will lift restrictions if needed. You still need to buy the game again, but the price around $6 is quite reasonable given the benefits.

I understand, I can purchase it online, but I prefer to try it this way since I already have it.

The original Riven relies on a 16-bit executable for the installer, which doesn't work on any 64-bit Windows. If you're using Windows 10 32-bit, simply turn on 16-bit application support via Windows Features > Legacy Components > NTVDM, then run Command Prompt with fondue.exe /enable-feature:NTVDM to install it.

The command indicates an invalid window feature name was provided, resulting in error code 0x800F080C. You might be missing the correct parameter.

Yes, I can help with that. What you're asking is about compatibility for 64-bit systems.

This can be executed using ScummVM.
A version for Windows is available as a port on GitHub.
