I work with liquid metal on props. I recently purchased a thermal grizzly foam guard to shield the electronics near the IHS. My inquiry is whether anyone has tried combining this with a metal AM5 secure frame. I want to avoid wasting any liquid metal through trial and error. My main worry is that the foam around the IHS might block the bracket from lowering enough for a solid connection between the IHS and the heat sink. Please share your thoughts.

The stock ILM does not contribute much on AM5.

The AM5 contact frame is better for fine-tuning the IHS, allowing adjustments around 1.6mm. If you don’t plan to adjust the IHS, consider returning it.

You can still achieve the same height with the stock ILM, as they likely share the same mount locations and thickness. The secure frames are slightly taller, requiring less lap work, though this seems exaggerated from photos. These components probably weren't needed before, addressing a problem that no longer exists. I only noticed this because others praised their performance on LGA 1700, expecting better heat management for AM5 where temperatures are extreme. From my perspective, they waste aluminum.

The liquid metal is unlikely to harm the secure frame.

I'm not sure. Applying it didn't seem necessary at first. Going back to reapply, everything stayed in place. I handled it very carefully.

Auto corrects got me onto the process. It wasn't intended to read props. I didn't realize these were designed for testing. I just stumbled across it on Amazon when it was $8 and thought, what could possibly go wrong? I don't want anything to break. I spent over $500 on my CPU. It looks like you're certain this won't happen with an unlapped AMD 7950X. I'm not planning to try to repair it either. Since it was only $8, I won't bother returning it. But if anyone else needs one, let me know and I'll ship it. Send me a message and I'll handle it.

The liquid metal might ruin that frame, and it seems like the IHS is also made from metal. I'm worried about long-term exposure to the AIO now either. I've only been in it once to check things off, and I didn't notice any damage then. I believe the IHS is fine. I know the AIO is correct, but should I be concerned? This is my first PC build—just upgraded a bit here and there, but never before like this.

IHS is nickel-coated copper as described on the site https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3362-...osion-test

I was really surprised by this. I've picked up a lot over the past few months. It's hard to believe everything. That part is covered. It might help. I won't use it now, considering what others said earlier.
