Current PC built on 5/22 - Asus B550-F with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and EVGA 3080 TI. Installed two additional 16GB RAM sticks at 3600MHz each, placing them in the remaining slots (1 and 3). The machine failed to boot. I thought mixing speeds would help, but testing all combinations didn’t work. Should I try a different approach or return the 3600MHz sticks?

It could be useful to determine the revision numbers when removing one stick from each kit. This information will let the relevant experts know which memory chips are available for use.

You weren't referenced anywhere, so I need to confirm—did you attempt to reset the CMOS at any stage? Placing a different RAM type might have triggered a system response.

I haven't tried that before. I'll need to look up which pins to short. I'm new to clearing CMOS, though it might seem straightforward at first—it's a bit daunting.

In the absence of post-updates and with fresh equipment, starting troubleshooting is essential.

You'd check if the system boots normally without entering BIOS, then test functionality. If it works, you might proceed; otherwise, you'd troubleshoot further.

Two pins labeled clrtc are positioned in the lower center of the motherboard.

Remove the CMOS battery. You can operate various RAM speeds simultaneously at the slowest module's rate. Currently there’s no XMP support that enables this, so you’ll need to adjust manually. DDR4 remains affordable right now, but swapping in newer modules could be worthwhile if you have some extra funds. It simplifies the process.
