Installed a newer GPU model but experienced declining frame rates.
Hi, today I upgraded my GPU from a 2080 super to a 4080. This was my first DIY hardware change. I swapped out my PSU for an 850-watt model and connected all the cables as they did with the old one. I also replaced the GPUs, powered on the PC, and updated the Nvidia drivers. But when I launch my games, I’m seeing a much lower FPS—Starfield is now between 25 and 55 frames per second, down from 45-65. Baldurs Gate sits around 45 fps now, compared to 60-80 before. I’m confused about why my performance dropped so much. Do you have any ideas? My specs are: GPU 4080, CPU i9 10900K, 16GB RAM.

There are a few potential reasons for this situation.
1. You may not have updated the old drivers prior to adding the new GPU.
2. The motherboard might have been installed incorrectly, placing it in the lower PCIe x16 slot.
3. The game automatically adjusts its settings once a new GPU is detected.
